President Bola Tinubu is aware of the hardship being felt by Nigerians as a result of the removal of fuel subsidies, according to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
On Tuesday, after meeting with President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja with former Minister of State for Health and Minister-designate, Dr. Mohammed Pate, Okonjo-Iweala gave a press conference in which she made this statement.
She claimed that the purpose of her visit to Tinubu was to discuss ways to lessen poverty in Nigeria.
That is what is required right now, according to Okonjo-Iweala, helping Nigerians to improve their precarious circumstances.

“Our discussion with the president focused on developing strategies to promote women’s empowerment, encourage job creation, and support digital trade within Nigeria’s economy.
Although this wasn’t really a WTO mission, we were able to speak with the president about the potential programs that could be implemented to ensure the welfare of Nigerians.
“We talked about trying to look at community and grassroots programs that can be put in place to create jobs for young people trying to support women and children who are bearing the brunt of some of the suffering in the country.
Okonjo-Iweala added that they had the chance to discuss longer-term investments in a variety of other Nigerian industries, including the pharmaceutical sector, during their visit.
We also discussed the potential benefits of the World Trade Organization, she continued.
“We are already assisting Nigerian women in particular who run small and medium-sized businesses to improve the caliber of their goods in the agricultural, textile, and other sectors so they can sell more internationally.
“We’re attempting to assist them with online trade. Digital trade is the way of the future. How then can we empower Nigerian women and small and medium-sized businesses nationwide to grow the economy and add to the number of jobs?
“That is what Nigeria needs right now to improve the difficult circumstances that the people there are facing.
“So, that is what we talked about with Mr. President, and as the Director General of the World Trade Organization, we will try to do everything in our power to support Nigerians at this particular time,” the statement continued.
Tinubu is actively working to alleviate the suffering and pains of the populace, according to Pate, a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GAVI, the global vaccine alliance.
