According to Timi Frank, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy national publicity secretary, President Bola Tinubu is threatening and blackmailing five PDP governors to switch to the ruling party.
Frank reportedly announced this in a statement on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
According to him, Tinubu is also threatening to declare a state of emergency in their states in order to deal with governors who do not agree with him.
Timi Frank emphasized that the next election should not be about the North or the South, but rather about who would handle the numerous issues facing the nation, and cautioned leaders in the north and south not to fall for Tinubu’s antics to seize power in 2027.
He said: “He has escalated the intensity by threatening, blackmailing, and coercing at least five Southern PDP governors to defect to the APC along with their National Assembly members.”
Because Tinubu sees the 2027 election as a contest between himself and the North, he is making a valiant effort to win over the South by deceit and manipulation. He has already forgotten that the North aided him in gaining power in 2023.
Instead of a “Northern candidate or Southern candidate” or “Northern President or Southern President,” Nigerians need a president who would help their country improve.
The nation is already overburdened with racial differences. As a result, we cannot afford to have a president who pits one area against another in order to further his own agenda.
As a Southerner named Timi Frank, I don’t think a president who is divided and tribalistic is a good idea. I have faith that a leader will emerge who will bring Nigeria together instead of dividing it.
“I urge all Northerners who are still in favor of Tinubu to reconsider their decision. The North, which allegedly “assisted” Tinubu in gaining power in 2023, is currently suffering the most, and they should be aware of this.

“It is a reality that Tinubu has severely neglected the north in appointments and other infrastructure development programs, putting his own and his tribe’s interests ahead of anything else.
The North ought to awaken for this reason. They should know this route Tinubu is going in terms of 2027 politics, is not the best for Nigeria. They should rise and speak with one voice in 2027.
“I want the Northern leaders to know that should Tinubu find his way back to power in 2027, the North will suffer untold neglect as
Tinubu and the APC don’t have their genuine interest at heart.
“As we speak, at least five opposition governors are expected to defect to the APC—not because they like Tinubu, but rather as a result of intense political pressure, intimidation, and blackmail.” Those governors who choose to stay have been forced to sign pledges promising to turn over their states to Tinubu or risk losing their chances of winning a second term in office.
