The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of a four-year-old boy and the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday night.
According to Haruna, the command’s surveillance team apprehended the suspects on Saturday in Gwarzo Local Government Area of the state.
“On Saturday, September 7, 2024, the Kano State Police Command’s Surveillance Team, led by CSP Kabiru Isah Kangiwa, achieved a significant breakthrough in the case of a kidnapped four-year-old boy, Muhammad Nasir Jamilu.
“The victim was abducted from Sharada Quarters Kano, whisked to Gwarzo Town, Gwarzo LGA, Kano State, kept hostage and a ransom demand of N10m was made,” he said.
He explained that after negotiations, a sum of N300,000 was paid, pending the balance.
Haruna said on receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, directed that the victim be rescued and the culprit(s) be trailed and arrested using technical support.
“The detectives arrested three suspects: Hisbullahi Salisu, 30, Hassan Ali Rabiu, 28, both from Yakasai Quarters, Kano and Hassan Aliyu, 22, of Hotoro Quarters, Kano,” he said.
Haruna said the principal suspect, Hisbullahi Salisu, who is a cousin to the victim, confessed to having conspired with the two other suspects, to kidnap the victim and take him to their hideout in Gwarzo Town, Gwarzo LGA, Kano State.
“The victim was rescued unhurt, rushed to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, and later reunited with his parents.”
“The Kano State Police Command commends the surveillance team for their professionalism and swift response, which led to the successful rescue of the victim unhurt,” the statement added.
