Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi, punished three commissioners for their unapproved absences from Monday’s State Executive Council meeting.
Jude Okpor, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, reportedly revealed the most recent development during a briefing on the executive council meeting’s outcome on Tuesday.
The Commissioners that are impacted are Ikeuwa Omebe (Rural Development), Victor Chukwu (Environment), and Solomon Azi (Grants and Donor Agencies).

The Commissioners were suspended for a month, according to Okpor, who also emphasized that the Governor had issued a warning against public servants’ tardiness and lack of commitment to their jobs.

He added that Nwifuru gave the order to strip the suspended commissioners of all office-related benefits for the term of the suspension.

The Information Commissioner added that Nwifuru cautioned all State contractors working on government projects to move quickly in accordance with their contracts.

The government will not think twice about using all available legal methods to enforce compliance, he threatened.

In other news, Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, has been accused by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council of ignoring warnings of a possible attack by suspected Fulani herders, which resulted in the terrible events that occurred in Amegu Nkalaha, Ishielu Local Government Area.

According to reports, the attackers broke into the neighborhood early on Sunday morning and destroyed a large number of buildings, turning them to ashes.

In a statement, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the group’s national president, asserted that the youth wing had warned the governor four days prior to the February 2 attack, which resulted in multiple fatalities and property destruction.

The council warned that if immediate action is not taken, further violence may break out due to the growing number of Fulani herdsmen in the state.
