Synagogue Prepares For TB Joshua’s Burial, As Church Elders Proclaim Wife New Head Of Ministry

Preparations are currently in top gear as the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) begins a week-long funeral activities of the founder of the controversial church ministry, Pastor Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua, from Monday next week, July 5, 2021.

Pastor Joshua passed on in the early hours of Saturday June 5, 2021, at a lagos hospital, following an alleged health complications which, according to his wife, Evelyn, made him unconscious, shortly after preaching to his church faithful.

The SCOAN church had revealed earlier that Joshua would be buried at the church, contrary to the wish of the traditional rulers in Arigidi Akoko, the late televangelist’s hometown in Ondo. The weeklong event will take place from Monday July 5 to Sunday July 11, 2021.

According to a caption-free Instagram post by the late TB Joshua’s associate and Publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, on Friday night, June 25, a candlelight procession will be held for the deceased cleric on July 5, while a tribute service and service of songs/all-night praise will be held on Tuesday July 6 and Wednesday July 7.

Joshua’s lying-in-state will be held on Thursday July 8, while the funeral and interment will follow on Friday July 9. A thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday July 11. All services will be broadcast live on Emmanuel TV.

SCOAN also assured its members that worship would not stop at the church, following its shutdown since the demise of the televangelist.

Reliable information suggests that SCOAN has already extended invitations to some prominent personalities and associates of TB Joshua, within and outside the country, including some prominent men and women of God, to grace the funeral of the founder of the Synagogue Church.

Meanwhile, there are indications, according to France-based AfricaNews, that the elders of Synagogue Church have met and named Pastor TB Joshua’s wife, Evelyn, as the immediate replacement for the late acclaimed Prophet as the new General Overseer of the church.

Evelyn and Joshua were said to be married for 31 years and had three children together until his death on June 5 at the age of 57.

A top aide of the late cleric was quoted as saying, “Someone must take charge immediately and give spiritual direction on the mode of service continuity. So much spiritual and financial effort went into building SCOAN and it cannot just waste away (sic).”

Evelyn, who met TB Joshua over 30 years ago, was said to have been serving as the second-in-command to her husband before his death earlier this month, performing the role of a preacher and offering counselling to church members.

However, during his lifetime, Prophet TB Joshua who is commonly referred to as “the man in the Synagogue or Papa” by his numerous church members, was neck deep in controversy regarding his questionable miracles and alleged video manipulations which are shown on his Emmanuel TV.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the nation’s apex regulatory agency for broadcast outfits in Nigeria had clamped down on Joshua’s Emmanuel TV on allegations that his miracles were “fake” and “stage-managed” to enhance the popularity of Joshua and his church and particularly to mislead the world into flocking to the Synagogue Church for “signs and wonders” and to seek solutions to their spiritual and sundry problems.
