Sen. Godswill Akpabio, president of the Senate, announced that in order to mitigate the impact of eliminating fuel subsidies, the Federal Government will review worker salaries and raise them.

This was said by Akpabio when Abiodun Oyebanji, the governor of the state of Ekiti, and state legislators paid him a visit on Tuesday in his office at the National Assembly.

The Senate President reassured Nigerians that the Federal Government was aware of the challenges brought on by the removal of fuel subsidies.

He asserted that the removal of fuel subsidies was a component of the current administration’s efforts to combat corruption because the fuel subsidy system reeks so strongly of corruption.

If the fuel subsidy had not been eliminated, according to Apabio, “Nigeria as a country would not have survived the next few years.”

He emphasised that if the government’s budget is raised, it will be able to pay salaries and wages.

For his accomplishments in office over the previous month, Oyebanji praised the Senate President.

The governor reaffirmed the government’s and people’s readiness to work with the legislature to advance the nation as well as their commitment to supporting the success of his term as the 10th Senate’s President.
