The Nigerian U20 men’s team, the Flying Eagles, was praised by Sunday Dare, the country’s minister of sports, for earning a spot in the FIFA U20 World Cup later this year and making it to the CAF U20 AFCON in Egypt’s semi-finals.
The Flying Eagles defeated Uganda 1-0 on Thursday to advance to the CAF U20 AFCON semifinals and lock up their spot in the FIFA U20 World Cup, which will take place in Indonesia in May.

While praising the team for exceeding the goal set by the Ministry and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Minister urged them to now concentrate on winning the CAF U20 trophy.
“I congratulate you, the coaches, players, and other officials for meeting the target set for you, which is selecting a ticket to the World Cup,” he said.
“We admire your tenacity and resolve to overcome the setback in your first game and go on to win three straight games to accomplish the first goal.

“I now give you the order to push harder and change your attention to completing the race and taking home the trophy. I think you can do it again because you did it at the WAFU B competition, Dare said.
