Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party’s (YPP) candidate for governor of Anambra state in the November 8, 2025, election, has criticized state governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for the state’s low student performance on the recently released National Examination Council (NECO) and Join Administration and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams.
Cancel Chukwuma expressed regret that Anambra State, which had topped the national ranking for over ten years in a row, had unexpectedly dropped to 28th place in the most recent statistics.
“Today, we have seen a shocking decline in some of the key indicators of development in our State,” the YPP candidate for governor stated in a statement Tuesday.
Anambra State was formerly the leader in education for more than ten years, but the current administration has let this progress wane.

“Anambra State’s education rating has suffered greatly in recent years, to the point where our state now lags behind Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi States in terms of student performance.” With pupils earning five credits on their senior certificate exam, Anambra State was unable to make it onto regional and national lists of the best states during the current administration. This is the worst it has been in almost ten years.
“This is a fragmented promise. Now a gain has been lost. We as a people see it as a warning sign for our State and our children’s future,” Sir Chukwuma continued.
Chukwuma, however, promised that his administration will undo the regrettable event if elected to power.
