About N523,390,000 was spent by the Sokoto State Government on the registration costs of needy students enrolled at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto.
This happened as the state students’ association in UDUS praised Ahmed Aliyu, the governor of the state, for paying the registration fees.
Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu, the association’s chairman, stated during a press conference on Sunday in Sokoto that the payment was for more than 7,000 state residents who were enrolled in the school.

In a statement made public at the briefing, Aliyu noted that the state’s recently-departed government had for three sessions refused to cover the registration fees for Sokoto state residents enrolled at UDUS, resulting in student unrest and disrupting academics.

However, he praised the governor for making the payment.

The governor, he claimed, “Has given all Sokoto students in various higher educational institutions hope again.

“From the foregoing, you may need to know that UDUS students who are natives of Sokoto state are pleased with the gesture made by the governor with the full payments of students’ registration fees for the session of 2022/2023,” the statement reads.
