Shock in Ibadan as JCI President-Elect Ibukun Otesile Is Kidnapped

Ibukun Otesile, the president-elect of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite for 2025, has been abducted, according to the Nigeria Police Force’s Oyo State command.

Otesile was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday night in front of her residence in the General Gas neighborhood of Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Adewale Osifeso, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the situation and said that the incident happened on Thursday at approximately 8:00 p.m. “On Thursday night, she was abducted. The investigation is still in progress, Osifeso stated.

Otesile, a mother of two, is the daughter of Olalekan Babatunde, the founder and general overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries in Ibadan.

On Friday, the news of her kidnapping swiftly went viral on social media, causing a great deal of worry.

Olamide Olanrewaju, the personal assistant of Apostle Joshua Sola Akinyemiju, the departing Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State, confirmed the occurrence to reporters and provided information about the distress warning. Olanrewaju claims that the association was informed at around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Her father is a member of our group on WhatsApp. According to Olanrewaju, the CAN chairman posted it as a distress cry, claiming that Reverend (Dr.) Lekan Babatunde’s daughter had been abducted.

“Everyone in the group started saying, ‘Prayer, prayer, prayer,’ as they became anxious. Everyone was praying, including religious leaders. I remarked that while prayer is beneficial, we also need to act morally.

Before sharing the notice, Olanrewaju included Rev. Moses, the chaplain of the Police Force Headquarters in Oyo State, in the same WhatsApp group.

“I found out that she had been abducted at General Gas’s front gate. Olanrewaju continued, “Only God knows what she was doing there, where she went, or who she was with.”

“This night, Thursday, December 4, around 8:00 p.m., the daughter of our beloved Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde was kidnapped,” the CAN distress alert states. The mother of two, Ibukun Otesile, was abducted in front of her gate at General Gas, Akobo.

Following the kidnapping, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) demanded that the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army Headquarters use all available resources to secure Otesile’s safe and prompt release.
