The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mannir Mu’azu Haidara, stated on Saturday that Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal would not negotiate with bandits but would instead back security forces in their efforts to eradicate banditry and other types of criminality.

He also stated that the state has lagged behind for many years due to poor governance.

According to him, the governor has begun following a road map that will see the state emerge from years of banditry and absolute neglect of governance.

He told journalists in Lagos that Governor Lawal would prioritize rebuilding communities destroyed by years of insecurity and engage in urban and rural development projects to expedite recovery. The Commissioner stated that Governor Lawal would stick to his stand of not talking with bandits and would instead help all security agencies in their fight against crime.

“There is no turning back for Governor Lawal on never negotiating with bandits and putting all commitment to ensuring that the people of Zamfara state live without fear of being attacked.”

“Governor Dauda Lawal’s top priority is to make Zamfara state secure and free of years of insecurity,” Haidara stated.

Speaking of governance, the Commissioner stated that the current administration, led by Governor Lawal, is actively restoring sanity.

He stated that the governor’s top priority was to ensure that the three months of unpaid wages left by the previous government were addressed, while also focusing on efforts to pay all other worker rights.

“Right now, some urban development projects are underway; more projects will be undertaken in both urban and rural areas,” he stated.

On education, Haidara stated that a plan is in place to ensure that the quality of education is enhanced at all levels and that the learning environment is renovated to a suitable level.

“Years of bad governance had left Zamfara behind for many years.” Now, Governor Dauda Lawal has taken on the arduous challenge of establishing a new Zamfara that is committed to progress and development. It is a massive task that will necessitate a lot of resources.

“But Governor Dauda Lawal has the will and the massive support of the people of Zamfara state to make this possible,” the Commissioner stated.

Haidara also urged the media and other stakeholders to back Lawal’s administration, which he described as being on a mission to save Zamfara State and its people.
