Secondary schools in Kaduna State have been ordered to open on August 18 in order for students in Junior Secondary School III to sit for their Basic Education Certificate Examinations.
The directive was issued by the Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Muhammad, in a statement made available to journalists in Kaduna on Wednesday.
“The Kaduna State Ministry of Education has approved the resumption of JSS III students scheduled to write the National Examination Council’s BECE in 2021 between August 23 and September 6, 2021.
“With effect from August 18, Secondary Schools are hereby directed to resume operations, but only for JSS III students,” he said.

Students should be informed to appear in mufti, according to Muhammad.
According to the Nigerian News Agency, the state government ordered all primary and secondary schools to remain closed until the security situation in the state improved on August 9.
The schools were originally scheduled to reopen on Aug. 9, but the ministry had not received clearance due to an ongoing security operation across the state, according to the commissioner.
