SDP candidate seeks traditional rulers' support

The Social Democratic Party’s candidate for the November 16 Ondo State Governorship election, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, has sought the support of traditional rulers across the state ahead of the polls.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Charles Akinwon, on Tuesday and shared with According Online, Akingboye, who has taken his campaign to several Obas seeking their official endorsement, emphasised the importance of traditional leaders in fostering community backing for his candidacy.

The statement reads, “Akingboye’s active campaigning across the state has resonated with the people, earning him the support of prominent traditional rulers. His leadership and vision, coupled with his commitment to unity and progress, have made him a strong contender.

“As a seasoned entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience, Akingboye has demonstrated his ability to drive growth and development. His philanthropic efforts through the OBA Foundation have empowered many, providing health initiatives, scholarships, and support for small businesses.

“The traditional institutions see Akingboye as the leader Ondo State needs to provide security and stability. With the current administration struggling to address kidnapping and herder-farmer crises, Akingboye believes cooperation across all strata of society is essential.

“To build this cooperation, Akingboye has personally visited several Obas’ palaces, receiving their official endorsement. Prominent traditional rulers, including the Oba of Isuada, Iyere, Idasin, Epe, and Mahin, have pledged their support.
This broad-based support, combined with his impressive track record, positions Akingboye for a significant impact in the upcoming election.”

Akingboye is contesting against the incumbent governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress, and the former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, of the People’s Democratic Party.

Other candidates include Falaiye Abraham Ajibola (A), Akinuli Fred Omolare (AA), Ajayi Adekunle Oluwaseyi (AAC), Akinnodi Ayodeji Emmanuel (ADP), Popoola Olatunji Tunde (APGA), Ogunfeyimi Isaac Kolawole (APM), Fadoju Amos Babatunde (APP), Olugbenga Omogbemi Edema (NNPP), Alli Babatunde Francis (PRP), Akinmurele John Otitoloju (YPP), Adegoke Kehinde Paul (YP), Mimiko Olubansile Abbas (ZLP) and Nejo Adeyemi (ADC) who is a PWD.
