Hon. Mustapha Ope Saraki, a teaming supporter of former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the I Asa/Ilorin-west federal constituency of Kwara state in the most recent election, was one of the opposition figures who joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday to support Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s reelection campaign on Saturday.
The Alliance Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Kwara South, Senator Makanjuola Ajadi, was one of those who recently jumped on the governor’s political bandwagon after initially quarrelling with him over an unresolvable political crisis.
Senator Suleiman Makanjuola Ajadi declared that he and other progressives in the state would work to re-elect Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrahman, who they believe is the best choice for Kwara State over the course of the next four years.
The senator also said in a statement on Tuesday that he and his team had decided to rejoin the APC because he is not a fan of zero-sum politics and never-ending animosity.
“My backers and I have moved past the national election. Nobody can accuse us of failing to exercise our democratic rights. But as Democrats, it’s time to move on.

As a result, I am directing my supporters to work diligently for Governor Abdulrazaq’s reelection because, in all fairness and in the eyes of the vast majority of our people, he has done his best to rebuild Kwara State to an admirable level under the circumstances of our state.
He is therefore the most qualified candidate for Governor, and I urge my supporters and the residents of our state to back him, according to the statement.
The majority of our candidates, particularly those from Kwara South, have given me the authority to announce our comeback and the merger of our structures into the APC.
“Whatever reservations anyone may have, I’ve come to the conclusion that opposing the governor now would mean sending our state back several decades.
I decided to make this public statement of support for Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s reelection because I do not want to be on the wrong side of history.
Alh Ope Saraki, who lost the last election even in his voting booth, is said to have been upset with his brother Dr. Bukola Saraki because the latter declined to lend him any kind of support.
Alh Ope reportedly conceded to Governor Abdulrazaq when the latter asked for his support because he was particularly enraged that since Dr. Bukola Saraki was not on the ballot, there was no reason he shouldn’t help him win the election.
