Shehu Sagagi, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Kano State Chairman, has advised the party’s leadership to do everything in their power to persuade ex-Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso not to defect.

Given Kwankwaso’s “strong political structure,” Sagagu believes his departure from the PDP at this time would spell doom for the party.

“I am advising the PDP to have a dialogue with Kwankwaso because allowing him to defect will not augur well for the PDP as a whole,” Sagagu said.

The Kano State PDP chair spoke on Thursday during a visit to Kano by the presidential campaign team of Bukola Saraki, a former Senate President and PDP chieftain.

Prof Iyorwuese Hagber, Director of the Bukola Saraki Presidential Campaign Directorate, led the team.

Meanwhile, speaking to journalists in Jigawa State on Friday, Hagber claimed that the lives of Nigerians had deteriorated under the APC’s rule.

He attributed the formation of the APC government in 2015 to internal wrangling in the PDP at the time.
“The PDP’s weaknesses, internal wrangling, and misunderstandings among our top nurtures opened doors for the APC to come to power, and we are paying a high price for it today,” he said.

He claimed that the PDP was now prepared and determined to put aside its differences and retake power from the ruling APC within the next year.

“We have a President in Bukola Saraki who cares about education, who believes in justice and fairness in government.”

“If the PDP had not broken its ranks and allowed internal problems to plague it, the APC would not have come to power.” That’s why I’m urging all other presidential candidates to back Saraki.

“Absolutely, when the APC took power, they had no plan to run the country.” That is why no one is safe, and no one is celebrating Nigeria because it is now the poorest country on the planet,” he explained.

Meanwhile, a lobbying group supporting Saraki for President in 2023 claimed on Friday that Katsina State was plagued by insecurity and unschooled children.

This was despite the fact that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), hails from a state where his party, the APC, is also in power.

This was announced in Katsina during a meeting with delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party by the Saraki Contact and Advocacy Council, which was led by Hagher, a former Minister of State for Power and Steel.

Hagher, speaking to delegates at the PDP Secretariat in Katsina, promised that Saraki, as president of Nigeria, would “wipe away the sorrows and pains of the people of Katsina State that the APC has subjected them to.”

He urged PDP delegates to ensure that the former Senate President was chosen as the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.

“Bukola Saraki is a continuation of late President Yar’adua,” he said. Because Nigerians have suffered so much, we need someone with courage. Because your future is in jeopardy, Katsina State has suffered more than most other states in the country.

“Loans have been taken that will be paid by your great-grandchildren, but these children are not in school.” When the APC is in power, Katsina State has the second-highest number of children out of school in Nigeria. “What are they doing?” you might wonder.
