On Monday, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, will open 36 recently finished highways, five bridges, and a pedestrian bridge throughout the state.
At a press briefing held Friday at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Special Adviser on Infrastructure Olufemi Daramola disclosed this information.
Daramola called the reveal a significant turning point in the Sanwo-Olu administration’s dedication to infrastructure development. He was accompanied by Gbenga Omotoso, the state’s commissioner for information and strategy.
He emphasized that the initiatives were in line with the administration’s THEMES+ program, which places a high priority on transportation and traffic control to improve the well-being and productivity of Lagos residents.
“Ongoing investments in infrastructure are the backbone of our development agenda,” Daramola stated, quoting the governor’s most recent budget presentation. Our concept of Greater Lagos will be built on top-notch infrastructure that keeps up with population expansion.
Several local government districts, including Agege, Alimosho, Badagry, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, and Kosofe, were included in the projects.
Rehabilitating Dopemu Road in Agege, building a bridge on the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road in Ifako-Ijaiye, rebuilding Irede Road in Amuwo Odofin, and restoring Oyinkan Abayomi Drive in Ikoyi, Eti-Osa, are a few of the major features.

Daramola pointed out that the projects were prioritized to guarantee timely completion despite inflationary pressures and global economic concerns.
“The administration’s dedication to its commitments and the prosperity of Lagosians is demonstrated by the completion of these projects during economic downturns,” he stated.
He stated that the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road in Ifako-Ijaiye and the Alapere Pedestrian Bridge in Kosofe will be put into service on Monday, December 9, 2024.
“The Ikoyi road network, which consists of Macpherson Avenue, Femi Okunnu Road, and Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, will open on Tuesday, December 10,” he continued.
