President Bola Tinubu has been congratulated on becoming the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State.
In a statement dated July 10, 2023 and signed by Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary for Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu referred to the event that occurred at the 63rd Ordinary Session on Sunday in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, as a significant affirmation of Nigeria’s leadership in the West African subregion and the African continent.
He went on to say that the faith that his fellow members had in President Tinubu to lead the significant alliance will show up in efficient cooperation and workable solutions to the problems of transnational security, sustainable development, and economic progress.

Sanwo-Olu stated, “On behalf of the people of Lagos State, I want to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on this outstanding accomplishment as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). He is our leader, mentor, and forerunner.
