Following the Russian invasion, Ukraine has forbidden males between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving the country, according to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service (DPSA).

The prohibition will be in effect for the duration of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s martial law, which was declared on Thursday morning after Russia attacked Ukraine.

“The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports that a certain group of persons is temporarily banned from leaving Ukraine due to the introduction of martial law in Ukraine,” the country’s interior ministry said through Telegram around midnight.

“In particular, male Ukrainian citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 are forbidden from leaving the country.” This rule will be in effect during the martial law period. “We want citizens to consider this information,” he stated.

Anyone who breaks the martial law could face military tribunals.

According to the DPSA, the ban on males leaving the country is in place to ensure Ukraine’s defense and timely mobilization.
