Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike declared on Saturday that his team has complied with every requirement set down by the Rivers State parties and President Bola Tinubu.
In a meeting with the president on December 18, 2018, at the State House in Abuja, the parties decided to promptly withdraw all cases that Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubara and his staff had filed in court.
They also consented to acknowledge Martin Amaewhule’s authority as the speaker of the Rivers State Assembly.
During the turmoil, Assembly Speaker Edison Ehie was chosen by lawmakers who supported the governor.
Amaewhule and the other twenty-six lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would also be recognised by the parties, among other things.
Wike praised President Tinubu for his crisis management efforts while paying a visit to Eze Nnam Obi III, the Oba of Ogbaland in the state’s Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.
In addition, he reiterated his dedication to maintaining state peace.
Senator Heineken Lopobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Felix Obuah, and former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipire Sylva, escorted Wike to the palace.
Senators Sam Anyanwu, Barinada Mpigi, and Chief Victor Giadom, a leader of the APC, were also on the trip.
“We have complied with all of the President’s requirements since I promised not to disappoint you,” the minister stated, accepting the decision made by the President.
This is to inform you that your request for the President to step in and ensure peace in the state in which you requested it has been granted.
“And I would like you to take this chance to keep praying for Mr. President, asking God to continue to give him discernment in leading our country’s issues.
“This is not where he (Tinubu) is from. Numerous individuals have led the nation’s affairs, and while other states are in difficulty, you virtually ever see someone publicly declare, “I need peace in the state, regardless of political party,”
It will contribute to peace in Nigeria if there is peace in the states. I thus implore you and your council to keep praying for Mr. President so that God would continue to grant him the discernment necessary to lead the nation’s affairs.
