The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) is reviewing its operational engagements, according to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor.

Irabor made the revelation in Asaba, Delta State, at the 6th edition of his security parley with military veterans.

Top retired officers attended the meeting, dubbed “CDS Interactive Session with Retired Senior Military Officers in the South-South Geopolitical Zone.”

According to the CDS, the consultation, which began in the South-West, has had a positive impact and will continue.

Irabor stated that the Delta SAFE operations, in conjunction with other internal security arrangements, are achieving success in combating illegal oil bunkering, piracy, and other crimes.

Other engagements are taking place behind the scenes, according to the defence chief.

He continued, “There is a non-kinetic approach that is part of the engagement that is focused on holistic solutions to the challenges in the Niger Delta region.”
