On Wednesday, the House of Representatives urged security agencies to stop attacks and save the lives of Nigerians traveling along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.
The House passed a motion by Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba (APC, Nassarawa), who described the rising number of road attacks as alarming.
Bandit attacks on travelers on the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, according to Nalaraba, have instilled fear and anxiety in Nigerians, threatening their freedom of movement for socio-economic engagements.
“Despite funds being released for the upgrade of security apparatus, there appears to be no improvement in the security situation in Nigeria,” said Ossai Nicholas Ossai.

He proposed an amendment to the motion’s prayers, requesting that relevant House committees on National Security provide monthly briefings to principal officers and a quarterly briefing to the general house, allowing the House to deliberate on how to address the rising insecurity.
