The Enugu State National Assembly and State House of Assembly tribunals’ rulings, which had earlier declared Professor Sunday Nnamchi’s election invalid, have been overturned by the Court of Appeal, located in Lagos.
Recall that on September 8, 2023, the tribunal proclaimed Prince Cornelius Nnaji (Ike Nike) the victor of the votes conducted on February 25 and declared Nnamchi of the Labour Party to be void.
The LP candidate never resigned from the university before applying for the new position, according to the three-member panel chaired by A. M. Abubakar, making him ineligible to run in the election.
Nnamchi, however, appealed to the Appeal Court, requesting that the lower court’s decision be overturned.

In its decision on Friday, the Court of case determined that the Labour Party candidate’s case has validity.
He was then proclaimed by the court as the legitimate victor of the race to represent the state’s Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency.
