It has been made clear by Aisha Falode, the Chairperson of the Nigerian Women’s Football League, that FIFA will still pay the prize money for the 2023 Women’s World Cup through the country’s federation.
Following the qualification of the Super Falcons to the second round of the Mundial, the secretary-general of FIFA, Fatma Samoura, reportedly stated that the world’s football governing body would send any unpaid allowance to the country’s women’s football team to the players directly.
It was announced by FIFA that every player who takes part in the World Cup group stage will receive a salary of $30,000.
The second round of the competition will see an increase in the match bonuses, bringing them up to a total of $60,000.
As a consequence of this, it is anticipated that every player on the Nigerian team will earn at least $60,000 if they proceed to the round of 16 in Australia and New Zealand.
During an interview with Lagos Talks FM on Wednesday, Falode provided this clarification by stating that the prize money for the World Cup will be “ring-fenced” in order to prevent any interference from a third party.

She mentioned that the NFF will continue to handle the distribution of any prize money won by the Falcons in the current World Cup.
She stated that FIFA had not indicated that it would pay the players directly. “We will pay you this money through the federations,” the chair of the NWFL said. “It says working through the member association,” which means “working through your federations.”
“FIFA will pay the federations the money, and the federations will pay the players with the instructions.” Everyone is aware that the proof is written down and can be seen.
On Monday, the second-round match between Nigeria and England will take place.
