Private doctors will honor Odebiyi, and Maduka at the Centenary Anniversary Award

The Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN) has released more names of prominent personalities to be honored by the body of private doctors for their outstanding contributions to the development and service to humanity in Nigeria’s health sector as its Centenary approaches on August 12.

Dr. Godwin Maduka, an Anambra State native who now practices medicine in the United States of America and is the founder of the Las Vegas Pain Institute and Medical Center; Senator Tolu Odebiyi, who represents Ogun State’s Ogun West Senatorial District in the Senate; and Professor Maurice Iwu, former Chairmen of the Independent National Electoral Commission

“It is without a doubt, a well-deserved honour coming to you for very many reasons, including; your very inspirational success story of rising from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of medical practice; holding multiple degrees in the medical field; your outstanding inputs, contributions, and outlandish investments in the Medical sphere incl.

Maduka is a clinical faculty supervisor at Touro University Nevada and an adjunct professor of pain management and anesthesiology. He’s also a surgical clinical assistant professor.

Senator Odebiyi is being honored by AGPMPN for his life-saving health interventions in his senatorial district, particularly for the elderly and indigent, through the Tolu Odebiyi Foundation, according to AGPMPN. By providing critical medical supplies and sponsoring several medical outreaches, the foundation prioritizes healthcare delivery at the primary healthcare level in the district’s five local government areas.

Professor Iwu served as President of the International Society of Ethnobiology from 1996 to 2002, as well as being a member and former President of the Nigerian Society of Pharmacognosy, a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and a member of the International Society for Medicinal Plant Research. He was the Executive Director of the Bioresources Development and Conservation Program and a Senior Research Associate at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research’s Division of Experimental Therapeutics in Washington, D.C.

As previously reported, the event will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Africa Hall of the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja, as announced by AGPMPN National President, Dr. Iyke Odo.

It will be preceded by a national dialogue on healthcare delivery in Nigeria, which will be chaired by Senator Ken Nnamani, a former Senate President, on the same day, and will feature Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi as the keynote speaker.

According to Dr. Odo, the focus of the centenary event is to be a part of the solution to Nigeria’s healthcare delivery challenges.
