Since its inception, I have closely watched the Tinubu Administration’s operations. Regardless of my political leanings, the actions and decisions of the government in power influence me as a Nigerian, thus I have a stake in Tinubu’s administration’s success.
I anxiously anticipated the release of the ministerial list, as did the majority of Nigerians. Ministers have, thankfully, been sworn in. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Dr. Betta Edu, is one person who has drawn my attention.
Her ethereal appearance, poise, and charm immediately draw attention, but almost immediately you become aware of her other admirable traits, and you realise that she is unquestionably one of the President’s most brilliant Ministerial selections.
You are in a fog as you scan her resume. You look at her career history and are amazed. In actuality, all other supporting factors for her nomination are forgotten. She is young. Well, absolutely, but others twice her age are still striving to accomplish half of what she has accomplished in her youth. Heh, she’s a lady. No doubt. based only on gender identification. You cannot abandon her in a meaningless container. She is a natural force that moves in accordance with her own atmosphere. You have to pay attention when she enters.
Since its creation, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has received negative press. It has created a stir and left a bad taste in the mouths of many for such a young Ministry. The majority of its declarations of job completion are received with jeers and yells of scepticism. A massive overhang of unmet trust burdens the Ministry.
Dr. Edu has stepped into this environment well equipped. She makes it clear that she was ready when she arrived. Since being sworn in, she has been visiting media outlets in an effort to promote her projects and dispel some of the myths surrounding the Ministry. A difficult task. Enough to bring down the weak-willed, but Dr. Edu is far from weak-willed. Through and through, she is an Amazon.
There is no question that this Minister knows exactly what she came to do after listening to her speak passionately about the task ahead. This one won’t wait to observe Oga’s facial expressions at the top. Dr. Edu will complete any necessary tasks quickly and effectively.
She has reportedly spent the entire week having a retreat with her directors and department heads. What should you be doing right now? How did you act? What is keeping you from carrying out your obligations? I’ve heard the session was challenging. I hope best for her directors. If I were them, I would embrace this Minister instead of the infamous Civil Service guardedness, protectionism, and games. They all stand to earn significantly from her success.
The issue is that the Dr. Edu I’m seeing doesn’t appear to be going to ask for your consent to follow orders. Otherwise, it’s not in your best interests.
Eyes are on you, Dr. Edu. The bar has been raised. On you, there is hope. young people. Women and other demographic groups. I won’t ask you to keep them happy. You don’t seem to be thinking about it at all. I therefore close by praying for you. Godspeed.
