Dr. Doyin Salami has been appointed as President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief Economic Adviser.
This information was revealed in a statement released by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Dr Salami was the Chairman of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) until his appointment, according to Adesina, and is expected to address all domestic economic issues and present views to the president.
“A 1989 doctorate graduate in Economics from Queen Mary’s College, University of London, Doyin Salami, 59, is Managing Director and Head Markets Practice at KAINOS Edge Consulting Limited, and member of the Adjunct Faculty at the Lagos Business School (LBS), Pan-Atlantic University, where he recently attained the rank of Senior Fellow/Associate Professor,” according to the statement from Adesina.
“The President’s Chief Economic Adviser is expected to address all domestic economic issues and present views to the President; closely monitor national and international developments, trends, and develop appropriate policy responses; and develop and recommend to the President national economic policies to foster macroeconomic stability, promote growth, create jobs, and eradicate poverty, among other things.”
Salami is a senior lecturer at Lagos Business School, where he teaches about the business environment’s economic environment.

He was a member of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Monetary Policy Committee and the Federal Government’s Economic Management Team, as well as an executive director of the African Business Research Limited in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Salami works as a consultant for the Department for International Development (DFID), the World Bank, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) (USAID).
