There was chaos and confusion among travellers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos State on Thursday over a sudden power outage.
The disruption was eventually traced to an electrical fuse fault. The fault caused a complete loss of electricity in the old terminal.
A source at the airport who spoke to According, said, “The power outage resulted from a fuse cut that generated some smoke.
“The situation has since been resolved, with the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) device tripping for a few minutes before being restored.”
Amid thick smoke billowing in a section of the facility, workers and passengers evacuated to the larger departure hall.
However, efforts to obtain a reaction from the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Obiageli Orah, proved unsuccessful as she did not respond to calls from our correspondent at the time of filing this report.
