Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has accused the ruling APC of plotting to rig the 2023 elections, once again criticizing the party for refusing to accept electronic transmission of election results.

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has claimed that the APC government is planning to rig the 2023 elections.

Wike chastised the ruling party for refusing to transmit election results electronically during a church service in Port Harcourt on Sunday, ahead of Nigeria’s independence day celebrations.

Nigeria should be more concerned about competing with developed countries that practice representative democracy, according to the governor.

“Other countries are talking about how transparent their elections should be,” he says. We’re discussing how to rig the 2023 election. It’s a simple matter! It is difficult to electronically transmit a result in order to demonstrate transparency.

“Where is the legislature, sixty-one years old? A legislature that accepts anything they bring as valid; a legislature that cannot say Nigeria has progressed to the point where it can hold a free and fair election.”

Tribalism, hatred, and division, according to Wike, are still holding the country back at 61 years old.

“At 61, Nigeria is still talking about hatred, division, and enmity; we’re still talking about a country that can’t get its act together. You despise a state because of a single person. You discriminate against some people because of their religion or their origins,” he stated.

He also chastised President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for its debt-fueled spending spree. “What are we going to do with the money we’re borrowing?” enquired the governor of Rivers.

“What is it that we are commemorating at the age of 61? Where are the courts after 61 years? Mr Wike wondered if the courts were being intimidated and if the judges had abandoned their responsibilities out of fear.

According to the People’s Gazette, the governor also stated that the country “had gone” and that the country “needs God’s intervention” as insecurity ravages several states.

“This is the time when Nigeria needs God the most. There isn’t another option. The country has vanished, and there is insecurity everywhere. As a result, everyone must pray to God, saying, “God, we need you now to save this country.” Man’s leadership has failed this country, and as a result, God, we need you now,” he said.
