According to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, some of his colleagues have decided to back President Bola Tinubu’s bid for the position of Senate President during the 10th National Assembly, which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Monday in Ibadan, during the post-second term inauguration interdenominational thanksgiving service, which was organized in his honour by the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Makinde made this statement.

The governor reported that the other governors met and decided to back Tinubu’s choice, “who is a Christian from the South-South region of Nigeria,” as their candidate for president of Nigeria.

“We are not engaging in political maneuvering based on religious beliefs, but what is fair is fair.

“We stood for Southern presidency; we stood for justice, fairness, and we are going to stand for equity as well,” he said. “We stood for justice, and fairness, and we are going to stand for equity as well.”

Makinde has guaranteed that he will be present at the National Assembly on Tuesday with the rest of his colleagues to ensure that the election for the senate president is conducted in a manner that is fair, just, and equitable.

He thanked CAN for its support and for organizing the Thanksgiving service. He also thanked everyone who attended the Thanksgiving service.

The governor also expressed his gratitude to the citizens of the state for re-electing him to office and promised that he would live up to their expectations during his second term in office.

He stated that he would have the opportunity to consolidate the majority of the work that was started during his first tenure during his second tenure, and he emphasized that his administration would put the state on the path to sustainable development.

Makinde gave the congregation his word that he would work hard and include the people of the state in the decision-making process regarding the administration of state government.

Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju, who serves as the Chairman of CAN in the state, gave a brief sermon in which he urged the congregation to concentrate on the sovereignty of God. He explained that this was the only way to achieve any level of success.
