The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national youth leader Muhammed Suleiman claims that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) front-runner for president, is not well-known in many northern states.
At the PDP youth and student engagement town hall meeting in Lagos on Monday, Suleiman spoke.
Elections can only be won by candidates with nationwide structures, not just by sentiments, according to the PDP national youth leader.
He said, “Some people are depending on feelings to win the support of their people, which is very unfortunate.
“Tinubu claims that it is his turn to lead Nigeria. Without presenting and defending your policy document, we cannot give you control of 200 million lives. Anywhere in the world that the president finds himself, he or she must be able to defend their platform.

“Let me move over to the ‘Obidients’ side. Elections cannot be won by invoking emotions. The Nigeria we envision does not involve telling people to vote for you just because you are a Christian or a Muslim.
“I’ll tell you this: People in Katsina, Sokoto, and many other northern states don’t have the same level of knowledge as Peter Obi.
“You must involve the general public in your campaign. In Nigeria, there are over 170,000 voting stations, and let me tell you that in 80% of them, the Labour Party doesn’t have a structure. How will they succeed in winning elections? They will lose.
Alao John, the National Association of Nigerian Students’ (NANS) deputy south-west coordinator, also spoke at the occasion and reiterated the organization’s support for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
At the PDP rally in Oyo, John gave Abubakar his official endorsement, saying the former vice president has the vision to reform the educational system.
“We have high hopes for delivering Atiku Abubakar. Vote for Atiku if you want an active educational system in Nigeria.

Elect Atiku. Someone who will alter the history of our wonderful nation is what we need. I’m urging our parents to support Atiku because of this,” he said.
