MUSWEN Applauds Akpabio’s choice As Senate President

In preparation for the upcoming 10th National Assembly, the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has given its support to Christian Senator Godswill Akpabio, who is serving his second term and represents the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District. Akpabio is running for the position of Senate president.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has already declared their support for the senator’s candidacy for the post in the 10th National Assembly.

Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, who serves as the executive secretary of MUSWEN, stated that the decision to have an inclusive zoning arrangement was made in advance of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly leadership.

According to MUSWEN, this came at a time when certain sections of the polity already nurse erroneous jitters on the Muslim-Muslim presidency. This reassuring move is most laudable because it came at a time when these jitters already existed.
