The heads of the French Bilingual College and the Chinese Bilingual College, Kwankwaso, in the state’s Madobi Local Government Area, have been suspended immediately by the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, for absences and carelessness of duty.
In a similar vein, the ministry has approved the appointment of Umar Akilu Sabo as the sit-in principal of the French Bilingual College and Isyaku Umar Abdullahi as the sit-in principal of the Chinese Bilingual College Kwankwaso, respectively.
The suspended principals were not present in the schools when the take-up inspection team visited on Monday (today) to observe the start of the 2023/2024 first term school session, according to a statement released on Monday by the ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru.
According to the statement, the inspection team, which was led by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Kubra Imam, found that the two institutions’ students had not been provided dinner on Sunday night and that their breakfast for Monday had not yet been prepared when they arrived.
The commissioner instructed the two principals to turn over control of the school to the new sit-in principals and report to the ministry while an investigation was underway. He was appalled by what he described the uncaring attitudes displayed by the two principals.
Doguwa cautioned all school officials to avoid taking any action that would jeopardize the current administration’s efforts to revitalize the educational sector.
While waiting for everything to be ready for the start of the 2023–2024 academic year, the commissioner praised the principals of the Government Girls College in Kano, Nigeria, and the Government Girls Secondary School in Kwankwaso, Nigeria, for their commitment and cooperation.
The way the food was served left a huge impression on the students. Their attendance is highly respectable, and the principals of the two schools did a fantastic job of creating a welcoming environment, according to the commissioner, who was quoted in the statement.
