President Muhammadu Buhari’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) is being briefed by Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, was also scheduled to brief Council, but he wasn’t present when it started at 9:58 a.m.
A moment of silence was observed in memory of Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (retired), a former Minister of Special Duties under General Yakubu Gowon, before Yakubu briefed the Council members.

Between July 1975 and March 1976, he served on General Murtala Muhammed’s Supreme Military Council in Nigeria. From March 1976 to July 1978, he served as the military governor of Plateau, which had been formed from a portion of the former Benue Plateau State.
