In the state of Gombe, agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have detained 10 people who are suspected of buying votes with a total of N1.9 million in cash.
Farul Dogondaji, the Kano Zonal Commander of the EFCC, is currently in Gombe State for election assignment. In a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), he stated that the suspects were arrested in Gombe, Akko, Nafada, and Kwami Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. Dogondaji is currently in Gombe State for election assignment.
According to him, 10 suspects were detained along with 43 wrappers while they were attempting to entice eligible voters in the LGAs that were impacted.
He stated that all of the suspects were taken into custody while they were attempting to divide the money in order to exert influence over voters in the elections for governor and state assembly.
After the investigation is complete, the suspects will be taken to court, according to the commander of the EFCC.
