Buhari’s Top Minister Bemoans “I Regret Not Wooing Philip Aduda To APC Before LP Tsunami”

According to Mohammed Bello, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Philip Aduda, the Senate minority leader, regrets not being persuaded to defect from the People’s Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress.

It is important for Aduda to carpet cross to the ruling party, the minister reportedly said on Friday, April 21, at the Presidential Villa during the Sallah homage to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Before the Labour Party (LP) wave of the February 25 National Assembly elections swept him away, Bello, the president of the Nigerian Senate, claimed he had tried to woo Aduda to the ruling party, but all his efforts had been in vain.

Bello urged the lawmaker to think about defecting from the PDP to the APC, further praising Aduda as a bridge builder despite being in the opposition party.

Considering that the minority leader of the Senate had less than six weeks left in office, the minister also suggested that he be appointed as an ambassador to Ukraine.

In response to the minister, Aduda stated that he would give Bello’s suggestion to join the APC some thought.

The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, was also praised for his tolerance of everyone, including opposition party politicians.

The Labour Party’s (LP) Mrs. Ireti Kingibe was declared the winner of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate seat by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The outcome was declared on Tuesday, February 28, in Abuja by INEC Returning Officer Prof. Sanni Saka.

Saka reported that Ireti won the election with 202,175 votes, followed by Mr. Philip Aduda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in second place with 100,544 votes and Angulu Dobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in third place with 78,905 votes.
