The IPOB, an organization that is banned, has had its camps destroyed by Imo State Police Command personnel in Ihite Owerri, Orlu Local Government Area, Imo State.
A statement from Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police Spokesman, revealed that the operation was executed in strong coordination with the military.
A long battle with the terrorists resulted in the capture of one suspect, according to a police spokesman, and the escape of others who had been shot.
In response to abduction cases involving Mr. Sabinus Ugwuebu,’m’, a Road Safety Officer, and HRH Eze Ohiri, a former Eze Imo, as victims, police officers worked in close coordination with the military on August 1, 2023, at approximately 0330hrs, to storm a suspected terrorist camp at Ihite Owerri, in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. They arrested one suspect and injured others who managed to flee after engaging in a protracted gunfight with the terrorists.
In an attempt to apprehend the escaping culprits and potentially free the abducted victims, a coordinated investigation is underway. After the investigation’s conclusion, they will be charged in court.
“CP Aboki Danjuma, Commissioner of Police, Imo State, affirms that the Command will persist in collaborating closely with the Military and other pertinent security agencies to eradicate all types of criminal activity within the State. The Command firmly believes that it won’t stop until the abducted victims are returned and those responsible are held accountable.”
Furthermore, Danjuma restated the Command’s commitment to cooperating with the military and other security services to eradicate violent crimes in the State.
