The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has strongly condemned the vandalism of the MTN office in the FESTAC area on Monday.
The incident occurred when a group of frustrated MTN subscribers, upset over the recent blocking of phone numbers due to non-compliance with the NIN-SIM linkage requirement, took to the streets and damaged the office’s fence.
In response to a viral video of the vandalism, Hundeyin remarked, “This should not be the way to go!”

He further explained, “Meanwhile, the DPO FESTAC and his men responded immediately when they got the report. They succeeded in restoring normalcy and are still on ground to maintain peace.”
The blockage of phone numbers affected many subscribers, leading to widespread dissatisfaction and protests at MTN offices nationwide. Protesters voiced their disappointment and frustration at being unable to access their phone services.
