Police Commission informs Germany we will train our recruits locally

Recruits for the Nigerian Police Force will be trained locally, according to the Police Service Commissions (PSC).

Musiliu Smith, the chairman of the PSC and a former Inspector-General of Police, stated this during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the German government requested that the federal government release at least 30,000 police officers for special training in Germany on how to deal with protests without resorting to violence.

However, Smith asserted that Nigeria and Germany are two distinct societies.

According to him, it is critical for police officers to receive local training so that they can be screened when they are at the entry level of the force.

“We have to screen them,” he explained. You were aware that Germans were present. They met with the government and a number of relevant organizations, and the conversation is still ongoing.

“The government there is willing to support good security in our country, and we’re willing to encourage them, but the earliest or most basic set of personnel will continue to be trained here.”

“If they have facilities, we should gradually go see what they have and what curriculum they use because the two societies are different.”

“We want to make sure there are things we need to put into our systems to help us.”
