Police catch two motorcycle thieves in Bauchi

In the Gudum Hausawa region of the state, officers from the Bauchi State Police Command have detained two men who are allegedly skilled at stealing motorcycles from their owners.

In a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Sunday, the state police public relations officer, Ahmed Wakil, revealed this.

Wakil claimed that the suspects’ method of operation involved requesting the transportation of commercial motorcyclists to a specific location, after which they would attack the riders and steal their motorcycles.

“On July 27, 2023, at around 9 o’clock, the command’s detectives took action on reliable information and detained two suspected motorcycle snatchers, who are known for abusing okada riders and stealing their motorcycles, the spokesman said.

According to the report, on the same day at approximately 8:30 p.m., two men, Mustapha Adam of Anguwan Mahaukata and Jafar Lawan of the Gudun Hausawa neighborhood in Bauchi, pretended to be travelers and hired Kabiru Muhammadu of the Magaji Quarters in Bauchi, an okada man, to take them to the old airport area.

“When they arrived at the Wikki Oil location, they pulled out a trailer-wheel spanner and struck him in the head. He was knocked out after suffering a head injury.

“Upon learning of the incident, the command immediately dispatched a team of detectives, who arrived on the scene in a flash and took the victim to the Specialist Hospital in Bauchi for treatment.

The detectives pursued the offenders and caught them before they could reach their hiding place in the city of Bauchi.
