Sani Mani, a 70-year-old man, and two others, Yahaya Haruna, 40, and Isah Haruna, 55, were detained in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for their involvement in kidnapping, armed robbery, and illegal guns possession.

The trio was apprehended in the FCT’s Tungan Maje and Kuje border settlements.

The arrest was made as a result of the Commissioner of Police, Sunday Babaji, beefing up security in the FCT’s border settlements.

Yahaya Haruna was detained by operatives of the Command’s anti-kidnapping unit in Tunganmaje market while in possession of a locally made firearm, according to a statement by the Command Spokesperson, Edeh Josephine. Further research revealed that the suspect, Yahaya, is a part of a well-known criminal group that has recently terrorized inhabitants of Tunganmaje.

Police officers, on the other hand, apprehended a vehicle carrying food that was being transferred to an unidentified destination in the Kuje area. With the food goods, the police team detained two suspects.

Following extensive investigations, it was determined that the food and other supplies were being carried to a location in Kuje that was already being monitored by the command due to concerns of kidnapping activity in the region.

Babaji Sunday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, has subsequently deployed more police officers and operational assets to bolster public safety and security in the Kuje and Tunganmaje axis, as well as other border villages in the FCT.
