The Kogi State Police Command has taken custody of an unidentified boy who is suspected of burying his younger brother alive.
The suspect stated that all he was doing was following his mother’s instructions to punish his brother for stealing.
Our correspondent was informed by SP William Aya, the public relations officer for the state police, that the boy had been taken into custody.
“Yes, the boy has been arrested and we are aware of the incident.” Why and how such a thing could occur are still being looked into, according to Aya.
We have learned that the incident happened in the state’s Adavi Local Government Area, specifically in the Apamisede community close to Army Barracks.

The suspect allegedly went so far as to bury his younger brother alive after robbing him of N10,000.
Nonetheless, the victim was fortunate that a few neighbours saw the odd development and came to his aid.
It was reported that the suspect informed the nearby residents that he chose to bury the boy alive in order to prevent him from fleeing, as he usually does after robbing things.
He said their mother left them instructions to discipline their brother, but she went to church.
The victim had earlier absconded from home for two months after stealing some valuables, according to a police spokesman.
He revealed that he had only recently come back, had stolen N10,000, and had planned to flee once more when he was discovered. His mother had given his brother instructions to punish him.
