The police in Plateau State has thwarted a kidnap gang in Rantya and has also thwarted a kidnap attempt in Jos South LGA.
In a press release, ASP Ubah Ogaba, a state police public relations officer, stated that the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon.
He also said that some members of the criminal gang had sustained varying degrees of gunshot wounds while trying to escape.
The statement says “We received a distress call just before 3 p.m. today, saying that three gunmen invaded a compound in Rantya, where their target or possibly other people are being held hostage.”
When they received the information, the Rantya Division’s operatives were on the scene in a flash, and when they spotted the team, the hoodlums started a gun battle. During the fight, one of the hoodlums was neutralized, while the others were wounded with various degrees of injury.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives stated that an AK-47 rifle and 12 rounds of live 7.62X39mm caliber ammunition were found.
Following the announcement, it was confirmed that the investigation had begun and effort was being intensified to ensure the capture of other members of the gang who had fled.
To ensure citizens remained calm and provided relevant information to the police, he advised them to remain calm and remain cooperative.
