According to Phrank Shaibu, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s personal assistant on public relations, Nigeria has lost its significance on the international stage under President Bola Tinubu.
Shaibu said in a statement on Friday that Tinubu’s foreign policy shortcomings are being “scathingly judged” by Nigeria’s exclusion from a summit between US President Donald Trump and five African leaders.
In order to discuss business prospects, Trump has invited the leaders of Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, and Senegal to the White House on July 9.
Shaibu stated that Nigeria’s exclusion from the list was “a staggering symbol of the Tinubu administration’s failure on the international stage” rather than a diplomatic blunder.
The Trump administration’s exclusion, he claimed, is not a diplomatic blunder.
It’s a verdict, both shocking in its suggestion and devastating in its symbolism. An assessment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s controversial ECOWAS chairmanship, his unstable administration, and the total collapse of Nigeria’s diplomatic significance.
He claimed that Nigeria, a former continental powerhouse, is now “an afterthought” in world affairs.
According to him, “Tinubu left the 15-member ECOWAS in a desperate situation, with three countries leaving and 40% of its land mass already gone.”
“From African giant to diplomatic phantom—Tinubu has done it all.” He has squandered our legacy, diminished our reputation, and stifled our voice globally.

He claimed that under Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria “is invisible” while South Africa negotiates trade agreements with Washington.
The coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will free Nigeria from the rule of “urban bandits,” Shaibu continued.
“We refuse to participate in our own erasure,” he declared.
The harm is extensive, but our commitment is as strong. Furthermore, the effort to restore Nigeria’s honor has already commenced.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the 2027 presidential election, Shaibu said Tuesday, because of growing hunger and economic hardship.
Nigerians are already calculating the costs of bad governance, he continued, and they will vote against the ruling party.
“Hunger cannot be concealed by propaganda.” As he put it, “No PR can spin poverty.”
