Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for president in the general election of 2023, has urged Nigerians to maintain peace and follow the law.
According to sources, Obi’s contact came only 24 hours before Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, takes office.
The LP flagbearer asserts that only a court of law will ultimately determine who won the election. Additionally, he urged Nigerians to contribute to the growth and development of their nation.
The country’s unity, peace, and security are more important than any other interest, according to Obi, who is said to have made this statement during a gathering in Kaduna State.
“We must continue to live on the path of peace, religious harmony, ethnic harmony, and coexistence; for the time being, that’s what matters most,” he stated.
“Let’s have a peaceful, quiet Nigeria where the government focuses on alleviating people’s sufferings.”
Despite the problems with the most recent general elections, he stated, Nigerians must cooperate peacefully to address the shared problems of insecurity, poverty, education, and other crucial facets of the country’s existence.
Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, also spoke at the event. She urged the incoming government to address the high rates of youth unemployment, poverty, and insecurity, particularly in the Northern region, noting that those were the very important issues that required urgent attention.
