During the 2023 Nigerian presidential campaign, Alabi Quadri, a supporter of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, visited with Obi.
After she bravely stood in front of Peter Obi’s campaign van during the general elections in 2023, Quadri became a national hero.
In 2025, the teen reportedly rose to fame once more as word broke that he had been wrongfully imprisoned at Kirikiri Prison on charges of armed robbery and felony.

When Obi revealed his existing circumstances, he instructed Inibehe Effiong, a lawyer, to investigate his case.

The Apapa Magistrate Court, Court 9, located at the Sikiru Adagun Courthouse in Lagos’ Orege, Ajegunle, acquitted and released Quadri on Thursday as a result of the legal intervention.
When he was released, the young youngster said he wanted to go back to school.

On Friday, Peter Obi revealed that he had met with the boy and will see to it that his want to go back to school was realized.

The former governor of Anambra State remarked that everyone who should be held liable for Quadri’s unlawful incarceration must be held accountable, while also expressing gratitude to everyone who helped secure the young boy’s release.

The young child whose tale touched us all, Quadri Yusuf Alabi, was the person I got to meet today. After a period of unfair and unlawful imprisonment, he is now free. I am extremely appreciative of the attorneys, lead by @InibeheEffiong, who battled for his release, as well as @DeleFarotimi and Ms. Hassana Nurudeen, whose unwavering support was crucial in ensuring the young man received justice.

One thing was quite evident while I listened to Quadri today: his relentless drive to learn. I will see to it that he receives his education because, in spite of everything that has happened to him, his one goal is to go back to school and finish his degree.

In addition to being inspirational, his tenacity is a call to action, and I’m determined to make sure he has the education he deserves and wants.

Additionally, we can’t end with his release. Those who unlawfully imprisoned him must answer for their actions. We cannot afford to overlook such criminal activity as we work to create a Nigeria where justice and integrity are the norm.

“I express my gratitude to the attorneys and all those who stood and persisted in their pursuit of justice.

In a statement posted on his 𝕏 account, Peter Obi stated, “Education, freedom, the rule of law, equity and justice, and the care and protection of the less privileged among us will stand as the foundation of our democracy.”
