Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, has extended his congratulations to Dr. Saheed Aderinto, who was born in Nigeria and is currently a professor of history and African Diaspora studies at Florida International University. Dr. Aderinto was awarded the $300,000 Dan David Prize.
Obi divulged the information that the Dan David Prize is the most prestigious historical award in the entire world.
Obi asserted that Aderinto is the first and only Nigerian to have been given such a prestigious prize, according to a statement that was published on Sunday via his verified Twitter handle. The statement was contained in a post.
He stated that it was in honor of Aderinto’s remarkable scholarship in the field of history.
The former governor of Anambra State expressed his delight at Aderinto’s accomplishments and credited him with putting Nigeria on the international stage.
He wrote, “Today, I celebrate and felicitate with our Nigerian-born Professor Saheed Aderinto, a Professor of History and African Diaspora Studies at Florida International University, who recently won the $300,000 Dan David Prize—the largest history prize in the world.” He went on to say, “Today, I celebrate and felicitate with our Nigerian-born Professor Saheed Aderinto.”
