YPP Win Top Seats in Lagos LG Election

In last Saturday’s Lagos LGA elections, the APC lost two critical councillor posts to opposition parties.

The PDP won Ward G in Yaba LCDA, while the YPP won Ward D in Orile-Agege LCDA.

The ruling party won all 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in the state.

On Tuesday, LASIEC handed Adeshola Thomas, PDP Councillor-elect, and Omotunde Abdul-Kareem, YPP Councillor-elect, with their Certificates of Return.

“I feel great,” Thomas remarked after obtaining his diploma. “First, I thank God for standing by us during the battle and for the victory,” he added.

“My opponents reportedly removed two ballot boxes from my ward’s 18 polling locations during the election. I won 15 of the remaining 16 and lost by five votes in the final.

“It was a popular vote. People desire me. They stood behind us and the PDP.

“I am giving them this Certificate of Return. I guarantee they will be in charge this time. I must honor their memory. To God and my people.”

Concerning a probable APC defection, he stated he will remain loyal to the party that elected him.

“I won’t be ungrateful by carpeting. “I will do what my people desire because the mandate is theirs and I cannot fail them,” he continued.

“I can’t defy their requests. That is because I would not be here if not for my people.
