The five disgruntled governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have claimed that they are not concerned with being punished for alleged anti-party activities.
The party is reportedly focused on making sure that Atiku Abubakar wins the presidential election on Saturday, according to the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
Ologungaba stated that the G 5—five governors who have endorsed other presidential candidates—are of less concern to the party than their actions.
However, he opted not to say what disciplinary measures the party would implement as a result of some G-5 governors publicly endorsing other presidential candidates.

He said, “Our next action is to focus on the election. The issues before us are very important. We are focusing on what is important to us as a party. These are issues of serious concern for us and Nigerians, issues of insecurity, poverty, and human development. As we speak we have about 100m Nigerians living in poverty.

“So as a party, we are focused on the election because we want to rescue Nigeria from the misrule of the APC and we are following through with that.”

Remember how the G-5 governors—Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Samuel Ortom of Benue, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo—insisted that the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, resign from his position and allow a southerner to replace him in order to balance the power.
Additionally, the governors resigned from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council and made the decision not to back the party’s nominee for president.

While Ayu refused to resign, Atiku has consistently rejected governors’ requests to pressure the national chairman to step down. The governors have since set up camp with their preferred presidential candidates after several failed peace efforts.

While Ortom has since endorsed Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Wike is said to have urged his supporters to support Bola Tinubu of the APC. Ikpeazu and Ugwuanyi have not yet publicly endorsed Atiku or Obi, while Makinde is leaning in Tinubu’s direction.
