Jigawa State magistrate court sitting in Dutse on Friday ordered the remand of protesters for two weeks in person.
Magistrate Auwalu Sani ordered Umar Danjani, suspected of leading violent protests in Jigawa State to be remanded in Birnin Kudu Prison for two weeks.
TVN reported that the peaceful protest in the state turned violent, resulting in the death of two persons, with many injured and buildings set ablaze while properties worth millions of Naira were looted across the state.
The Police Command also arrested sixty-eight, 68 violent End Bad Governance protesters in Dutse, Kiyawa, Kazaure and Babura LGAs.
The command also recovered forty-nine, 49 bags of looted fertilizer, fifteen (15) bundles of mosquito nets and other valuable items.

The Imo State government and the National Association of Traditional Medicine Practitioners of Nigeria, NANTMP, have resolved to go after unscrupulous dealers parading as genuine practitioners and giving bad names to the Association.
The Association says the move is in a bid to flush out quacks and put an end to fake traditional medicine in the state.
The position of the association was made known by its State Chairman Chief John Amarachukwu Nwaike during the inauguration of LGA Chapters of the Association.
Inaugurating the LGA officers, the State Chairman charged members to participate in the verification exercise which the association is going to embark on very soon, warning fake practitioners to quit the field for their own good.
He said the association was putting up a task force that would go after quacks in collaboration with the State Government and law enforcement agencies.
Nwaike pointed out that quacks are giving a bad name to the association following their unwholesome practice, cautioning every practitioner in the state to identify with NANTMP by visiting its secretariat for proper guidelines.
In his speech, the special guest at the inauguration ceremony, the Commissioner for Health in the state, Prof. Emeka Ubaka, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr A.C. OKeji, expressed shock at the alarming rate of illicit drug peddlers, calling on the umbrella body of the association to ensure proper screening for intending practitioners in the 27 LGAs in the State.
Prof. Ubaka noted that Traditional Medicine is an old practice that was in place before orthodox medicine derived its origin from it.
The Health Commissioner commended the Southeast zone especially, the leadership of the State chapter for drawing up programmes for the inauguration of the Local Council chapters observing that the exercise was in line with the State Government’s plans of delivering quality healthcare services and also making it accessible to the people.
He charged the officers at the local level, not to operate outside the laws and regulations guiding it as he promised that the State Government will continue to provide the enabling atmosphere for the practitioners.
Speaking also, the Director representing Southeast at the national level Chief Linus Ogunka, applauded the Imo State leadership of the association headed by Chief Nwaike for the impressive achievements made so far.
He described the inauguration of the LGA functionaries of the State Chapter as a courageous step taken in the right direction.
Ogunka also used the occasion to charge the newly inaugurated officers to exhibit a high level of discipline by adhering strictly to the law while discharging their duties.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep concern over President Bola Tinubu’s silence amid the ongoing nationwide protests against economic hardship and worsening hunger in the country.
The PDP finds it troubling that Tinubu has remained silent as Nigerians take to the streets demanding good governance, protection, security, and welfare—fundamental responsibilities of the government.
The party warns that this silence sends a dangerous signal and increases public apprehension that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is indifferent to the citizens’ plight and the nation’s deteriorating state.
In a statement on Saturday, the PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, called on President Tinubu to immediately address the nation on urgent measures to reduce the price of petroleum products, stabilize the Naira, and ensure the swift provision of food, among other critical issues.
“The PDP demands that President Tinubu immediately address Nigerians on urgent steps to reduce the price of petroleum products, stem the fall of the Naira, and ensure the speedy provision of food, among other critical issues, to revamp the productive sector, stimulate employment, and restore stability in the polity,” the statement read.
“Our party is concerned that President Tinubu’s silence is sending a dangerous signal and heightening public apprehension that the APC government is insensitive to the citizens’ concerns and the overall dire state of affairs in the nation.”
“It is indeed worrisome that President Tinubu remains silent while Nigerians are on the streets demanding good governance, protection, security, and welfare—the primary responsibilities of the government.”
“The world watches in horror as APC-controlled security agencies assault, shoot, and kill unarmed protesters, with thugs allegedly mobilized by the APC also unleashing violence on innocent Nigerians. Our party calls on President Tinubu to end his silence, immediately address the nation, and reassure citizens on pressing issues, particularly the reduction in the price of petroleum products and food items. We insist that with effective, transparent, and innovative management of resources, economic potentials, comparative advantages, and refining capacity, petrol should not cost more than N200 per liter in Nigeria, especially with strategic investment in gas production.”

As the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest enters day three, the Nigeria Police Force has been accused of harassing protesters in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Activist politician, Omoyele Sowore alleged that the police and operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, were harassing protesters at the MKO Abiola stadium.
Posting on X, Sowore wrote: “BREAKING: @PoliceNG arrive scene of Abuja #EndBadGovernaceInNigerianow to attack activists, @OfficialDSSNG on their way too with govt sponsored thugs to do the same thing.”
Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju also corroborated Sowore’s claims of police harassing protesters.
“The police are currently harassing protesters at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja,” Adeyanju wrote in X.
The nationwide protest began on Thursday with aggrieved Nigerians expressing their displeasure over the hardship and suffering in the country.
There have been reports of police manhandling protesters across the country including deaths recorded.

Borno: Police discover 6 projectile grenades allegedly abandoned by terrorists
The Borno Police Command said it has discovered six projectile grenades allegedly abandoned by terrorists at Ajilari Cross area in Maiduguri.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Yusuf Lawal, who disclosed this on Saturday while providing a situation report in Maiduguri, said the projectiles were discovered on Friday.
Lawal said personnel of the Explosive Ordnance Device, EOD, Base 13, deployed to the scene to assess the grenades, discovered that they were manufactured with incendiary chemicals.
He said the affected area was thoroughly screened and the projectiles were recovered intact, rendering the area safe.
“In a separate incident, 20 suspects were arrested for burning tyres and inciting disturbances in Maiduguri.
“They are currently under interrogation and investigation for transparent prosecution,” he said.
Lawal explained that another violent incident occurred on the same day in Bassam Galomari Village, Gubio II Ward, under Gubio Local Government Area.
According to him, Fulani herdsmen, carrying cows, allegedly entered a farm belonging to a local resident, leading to a confrontation.
Lawal said, “The farm owner attempted to remove the herdsmen from his property but they resisted and one of the Fulani men attacked the farmer, cutting both his hands.
“The victim was rushed to Gubio Hospital, where he was referred to Maiduguri Hospital for further treatment.
He added that the security agencies have been mandated to respond to the situation to resolve the crisis.
Lawal said the security forces have remained on high alert, working to maintain public safety and prevent further incidents.

Journalists, protesters flee as police open fire on demostrators at MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja
Men of the Nigeria Police on Saturday opened fire on protesters and journalists at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, during the end hunger protest.
TVN gathered that protesters, mostly youths, had gathered in front of the stadium for the day three of the 10-day protest to end bad governance in Nigeria.
The heavily armed men, who arrived the venue around 11:45am, ordered them to leave.
Following their refusal to obey the order, the policemen opened fire on the protesters, including journalists at the venue.

Security operatives on Saturday dispersed protesters demonstrating in front of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike had on Wednesday secured a court order restricting the protesters to the stadium.
However, the security operatives irked by the disobedience of the protesters to enter the stadium fired teargas at them.

Protesters invite religious leaders for talks
As the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests enter the third day, the protesters in Abuja, gathered at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, on Saturday, invited leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria for a “heart-to-heart” talk at the protest venue.
Addressing the protesters, Sydney Usman, who is with the Take It Back Movement, thanked the leaders for their various interventions through the media but asked the leaders to show up at the venue on Monday, August 4, 2024, to discuss with the protesters.
The protester, who described the leaders as their fathers, said they were protesting bad governance in the country, while decrying attacks on the protesters by the police, since the first day of the protests.
They also stated that they would remain at the stadium until the court order restricting them was vacated latest on Monday.
At the moment the protesters are holding a congress to “show the government how it is done.”
