The leader of the Biafra Government In-Exile, Simon Ekpa has reeled out what he called four steps to the actualization of Biafra Independence.
Ekpa disclosed this on Tuesday through his official X account.
He boasted of step-by-step gains recorded so far towards the achievement of Biafra Liberation.
According to him, the first stage has been achieved by the Biafra government in exile despite campaigns of calumny by those who do not want Biafra to succeed.
He claimed that the second stage of Biafra’s Independence through its declaration and defense has been successful 60 percent.
Ekpa stressed that the third stage which is the recognition of Biafra as an independent state is done by 50 percent.
He wrote:
“Step 1. My first assignment has been accomplished!
“It makes the kidnapping and selling of Mazi Nnamdi backfire and become useless both to the sellers and buyers, both parties are on the run.
“Step 2. My Second assignment is to declare Biafra from Exile and defend it in the homeland. This we have done 60 percent.
“Step 3. My third assignment is to work for the recognition of Biafra as an independent state. This also has been done 50 percent.
“Step 4. My fourth assignment is rebuild, reconciliation and reintegration of lost Biafrans. This is loading.”

Freestyle wrestler, Blessing Oborodudu failed to win the bronze match of the women’s 68kg wrestling event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Oborodudu had begun her campaign well when she made it to a back-to-back Olympic semi-final after defeating France’s Koumba Larroque 6-2.
But she fell short in the semifinal against Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan, leaving her to settle for a battle for the bronze medal.
Unfortunately, Oborodudu lost 3-0 to Nonaka Ozaki of Japan on Tuesday night to finish fourth in the category.

Atiku warns service chiefs against shooting #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has warned service chiefs and military commanders against authorising the use of lethal force against #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters.
In a post via his official X handle on Tuesday, Atiku said the security heads would be held liable for the shooting of peaceful civilian protesters by soldiers and other security operatives.
He wrote: “I wish to convey a stern caution to the distinguished service chiefs and military commanders of Nigeria’s armed forces that those who authorise the use of lethal force against peaceful civilian protesters will be held responsible for committing crimes against humanity, even in the years following their retirement from service.”
The former Vice President called on the security agencies to ensure a safe and protected environment for the protesters, adding that it is their constitutional right to protest.
He added, “The constitutional right to engage in protest is firmly established within our supreme law and reinforced by the judiciary.
“It is the solemn duty of the government and security agencies to ensure a safe and protected environment for individuals exercising their right to peaceful protest.”

Soludo inaugurates state electoral commission
Anambra State governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has inaugurated the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC.
The inauguration, which took place at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, is coming after over a decade since the last local government election was conducted in the state.
The governor, while inaugurating the commission, assured that elections would be conducted in the local government areas as soon as possible.
Soludo reminded members of the commission that they have been called to perform an onerous task, especially as it concerns the conduct of local government elections in the state.
He said: “You must expedite action and set a date for the conduct of local government elections for Ndi Anambra.
“We charge you to render sterling service with honour and integrity. The conduct of the local government election was a major promise I made to Ndi Anambra when I was inaugurated. Crafting the law and getting the institution up and running took some time.
“The rest of the job is in your hands. The people of Anambra are expecting you to hit the ground running. When you are done, announce to the people when you’ll hold elections. I’ve done my job.”
The six-member commission will be led by Mrs Genevieve Osakwe, a magistrate.

Sudan famine a ‘shameful stain’ on world’s conscience- UN officials
The famine in a displaced persons camp in war-torn Sudan is a “shameful stain” on the conscience of the international community, which failed to prevent it despite multiple warnings, the United Nations said Tuesday.
Last week an international committee responsible for assessing food insecurity declared a famine in the Zamzam camp, near the besieged town of El-Fasher, in Darfur.
It was the first time the committee had confirmed a famine in more than seven years and only the third time since its monitoring system was launched two decades ago, said Stephen Omollo, assistant executive director of the World Food Programme, speaking at the UN Security Council.
“We have been clear that famine is a real and dangerous possibility… But our warnings have not been heard,” he said.
The crisis has not received the political and diplomatic attention it desperately needs, he said, hoping that the declaration of a famine would serve as a “wake-up call.”
“When famine happens, it means we are too late. It means we did not do enough. It means that we, the international community, have failed,” agreed Edem Wosornu of the UN’s humanitarian agency (OCHA).
“This is an entirely man-made crisis –- and a shameful stain on our collective conscience,” Wosornu said.
Since April last year, a war has pitted the Sudanese army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by his former deputy, General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced more than 10 million people, according to the UN.
Omollo said that a ceasefire remains the “only sustainable solution that will prevent the further spread of famine.”
But until that day, he pleaded with the Council to help “ensure we can carry out our work effectively, and without interference.”
Both officials denounced the obstacles to humanitarian aid imposed by both sides of the conflict and called for the opening of the Adre border crossing between Chad and Darfur, which has been closed for several months.
Sudanese ambassador to the UN Al-Harith Idriss al-Harith Mohamed, rejecting the conclusions of the report declaring the famine, acknowledged a “dire” humanitarian situation — but accused the RSF of being responsible for blocking humanitarian convoys.
While the United States has raised the creation of a UN mechanism to allow the passage of humanitarian aid in Adre, he insisted on Sudan’s “sovereignty,” noting that the opening of the border point was solely the responsibility of his government.

Organisers suspend EndBadGovernance protest due to Osogbo Osogbo festival
The ongoing #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest has been suspended in Osun State.
The suspension is due to the upcoming 2024 Osun Osogbo festival, TVN learnt.
The grand finale of the annual festival is slated for Friday, August 9, 2024.
TVN also learnt that the decision was revealed by the organisers of the protest in the state after they presented a protest letter to the state governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The letter was received on behalf of Governor Adeleke by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, at the State Secretariat, Abere, on Tuesday.
Adewusi, upon receiving the letter, assured that the letter would be delivered to President Bola Tinubu by the governor.
“I assure you that Governor Ademola Adeleke will deliver the letter to President Bola Tinubu and also do everything possible to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state,” he stated.
The protesters, under the aegis of the Coalition for Concerned Nigerian Citizens, Osun State, through Adetunji Ajala, had, during a press briefing in Osogbo, declared that the demonstration was suspended indefinitely.
Ajala said: “We, the coalition of Concerned Nigerian Citizens, the organising body of the EndBadGovernance protest in Osun State, wish to address the public and the media regarding the ongoing protest, which began on the 1st of August 2024 and marks its 6th day today.
“Since the inception of this peaceful protest, we have made our demands clear, seeking immediate action from our leaders to address the pressing issues affecting the citizens of our beloved state and country.
“We acknowledge the recent address by the President of Nigeria; however, we express our profound disappointment as the president’s speech failed to address any of our specific demands. Despite this setback, today, we successfully presented our demands to the Governor of Osun State through the Deputy Governor and Secretary to the State Government, who told us that the governor would forward our demands to the Federal Executive Council.
“Furthermore, we reviewed the security situation vis-a-vis the Osun Osogbo festival presently ongoing at Osogbo. It is worthy of note to establish that the protest is incidentally taking place in Osogbo, which is of concern.
“Considering the safety of the influx of tourists coming for the global Osun Osogbo festival and the possibility of hoodlums disguising as tourists and unleashing attacks on peaceful protesters amidst other security concerns, we consider it imperative to put the protest on hold today, 6th August 2024.”
TVN had reported that the protest against hunger and bad governance started nationwide on Thursday, August 1, 2024, and would end, according to organisers, on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Also, the protest in Osun State has been peaceful, as no incidents, clashes with security operatives or looting were recorded.

Keyamo slams Tinubu’s broadcast critics
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has described citizens tongue-lashing President Bola Tinubu over his speech on the ongoing #EndBadgGovernanceInNigeria protest, as individuals with nefarious intentions.
He said the critics intended to force the President to negotiate power with them.
Keyamo stated this through a short statement he posted on his verified X handle on Tuesday.
The statement reads, “Even if Mr President @officialABAT redrafts his wonderful speech one million times over, those with nefarious intentions will continue to pooh-pooh it in order to justify their continued instigation of mayhem.
“Their real intention is to force the hand of Mr President to negotiate power with them. It is as simple as that. The fall guys are the ignorant, but patriotic compatriots on social media screaming their heads off and the robbers and hoodlums that are rampaging on the streets.”
The minister, however, added, “Behind all these facades is a complex chess game of power with unseen hands.”
It will be recalled that some Nigerians criticised the President that his address on the nationwide protest did not address the yearnings of the protesters.
Prominent amongst persons who have knocked the president for the address are Noble Laureate, Wole Soyinka, Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dele Momodu, a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, among others.

Woman, three children die of food poison in Kwara
Kwara State Government has placed the healthcare sector on Outbreak Response Mode after confirmation of four deaths in Eruda community, Ilorin in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state as a result of food poisoning.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina El-Imam, said that the victims death was from the consumption of Amala believed to contain poison.
El-Imam at a press conference addressed in Ilorin, the state capital on Tuesday, also disclosed that one death was recorded from Gastroenteritis.
According to her, the entire health team of the ministry visited the community after report of a family who lost a number of their relatives, after consumption of Lafun-Amala made from cassava flour.
“On getting there, the claim was that there was a case of food poisoning where the 70-year-old woman fell ill and died after consuming Amala.
“Unfortunately, her son and grandkids also consumed the same food, fell ill and died. They were taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital where they passed away,” she said.
El-Imam stated that the Amala made from Lafun could have been responsible for the death.
She explained further that the people who consumed yam flour without Lafun were fine, lamenting that “those who consumed the mixture of both Lafun and Amala mixture fell ill and eventually some of them died.
The commissioner disclosed that several others are making good recovery in their hospitals where they are receiving treatment.
“Some are doing well and hopefully, following intensive medical treatment, should be able to recover fully. It was observed that the residence was in a location where personal and environmental hygiene was not really optimal,” she said.
El-Imam stated that this is a case of chemical food poisoning, potentially due to under-processed cassava used in the production of Lafun.
“We have another four cases recovering at the moment, in addition, of course, to the four that we unfortunately lost,” she lamented.
Similarly, the commissioner disclosed that an Initial Rapid Diagnostic Test was conducted on the suspected case of Cholera, which turned out to be Gastroenteritis.
She explained that one death was recorded at Osin Gada, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state as a result of Gastroenteritis.
“The community had a few cases of stooling and vomiting, predominantly among children, of which, unfortunately, one life was lost.
“The vomiting and stooling drew the attention of the state’s disease reporting structure.
“On getting there, treatment was immediately commenced and all the affected patients have received immediate standard treatments to stop the symptoms and treat them and restore them to health,” she said.
El-Imam disclosed that the deceased is the index case who demonstrated this illness before it spread to others.
According to her, the disease was characterised by vomiting, diarrhea, and general abdominal pain among the patients.
She pointed out that personal and environmental hygiene of the area was not optimal, adding that all efforts have been done to ensure the disease is contained to the currently treated patients.
“We are looking into providing them with more and better sources of potable water,” she assured.
